About Dr Johnson

Dr. Erik Johnson is a Board-Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Johnson grew up in Manchester Connecticut, attended Loomis Chaffee high school, and graduated from Hamilton College with a degree in Biology. He then worked in the
Boston area as a dental assistant in a pediatric dentistry office before attending the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine where he earned awards in special needs and geriatric dentistry. Upon graduation as a general dentist, he worked as a public health general dentist in Bangor Maine and was a National Health Service Corp Scholarship recipient. Dr. Johnson had found his niche working with children, yet felt he needed additional training to treat kids with special needs. Dr. Johnson pursued a Pediatric Dentistry Residency at the Lutheran Medical Center, a component of New York University, completing Anesthesia and Hospital Dentistry at the Eastern Maine Medical Center. Each day Dr. Johnson had many children traveling all the way from Aroostook County to Bangor for dental treatment, and believed he needed to fix that long drive obstacle to care.

Following residency in 2013, Dr. Johnson became the first pediatric dentist in Aroostook County and started his pediatric dentistry career in community health centers in the Presque Isle region. In 2024 he sought to create a pediatric dentistry center focused on creating a lifetime of oral health for his patients at County Roots Children’s Dentistry. Dr. Johnson and his County Roots Team seek to provide your children with a positive experience and decrease the anxiety of a dental visit.
